Stevens Family Racing Inc.

Mark Stevens D.O.B.  2/20/1966, born and raised in Colorado.  Approximately 32 years ago I started my exhibition racing carrier.  My father bought the 34th GREEN MONSTER of Walt Arfrons Green Monster Inc. from the late Craig Arfons.

 

At that time is when I knew what I wanted to so for the rest of my life, so my journey began as a jet car driver at the age of 16 years old.  We ran the car as much as possible starting out with the 280ZX Dotson body later switching to the 83 Corvette body running under the name (THUNDER & LIGHTNING) then finally to the first NHRA licensed jet powered pickup truck that was allowed to run under the jet funny car rules.

 

My dad always wanted a dragster so I thought why not, so I worked and saved every cent I made and started to build a new car.    Dad was skeptical during the build not ever having built a high speed car before.   The car was about 90% done and my dad became ill with Cancer, he passed away April of 2000.  My brother and I finished the car shortly after he passed away, it would have been great for him to see the finished car.  I know he is very proud of the finished car. 

 

From the time the Jet Funny Pickup Truck burned to the ground and building the (EARTHFLIGHT) Jet dragster and getting re licensed it was a long 18 years.  I’ve had a lot of help from a great bunch of friends and family members over the years and if not for them I would not be where I am today.

 

Along with running a jet exhibition team I also am the owner and operator of Sanitary Custom Stainless, aka SCS.  I do custom welding and fabrication of all types but primarily for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.   I worked in that industry for one company for 13 years before I decided to go out on my own and give it a shot; so far it’s been good to me.

 

Why I love this sport, it’s all about the kids and the look on their faces when they ask me questions and I take the time to answer them and sign an autograph for them.   They are our future and what is more important than the kids.
